A Dutch yacht in the English city of Southampton was found destined for the Netherlands carrying 1,200 kilograms of cocaine. The Public Prosecutor OM reported the discovery was made on 1 June and that six suspects were arrested in the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Among those arrested is a 60-year-old man from Mepple, the supposed owner of the yacht, and a 44-year-old man from Amsterdam.

The street value of the drugs cache is valued at around 44 million euros. It is the largest cocaine catch ever in the UK, according to authorities there. In the Netherlands, however, bigger busts have been made. In June, authorities discovered 2,500 kilos of coke in Rotterdam hidden in a container carrying canned peaches.

The Dutch National Crime Squad and British customs cooperated in the investigation.
