AMSTERDAM  - The court will pronounce a verdict in the case against Willem Holleeder and eight fellow suspects on Friday 21 December. The court said this on Thursday during one of the last hearings in the high profile case.

The public prosecution department recently demanded that Holleeder be sentenced to 12 years in prison. The prosecution claims that Holleeder and various other suspects extorted money from wealthy businessmen, including real estate magnate Willem Endstra, who was murdered in 2004.

The prosecution has demanded sentences ranging from 240 hours of community service to four years in prison for the eight other suspects on trial.
