THE HAGUE – A court in The Hague has declared Willem Holleeder's request for more relaxed security measures inadmissible.

The judge did not give his reasons for throwing out the request today. A spokesperson for the court said an explanation would be given in the course of next week.

Holleeder had requested that the high security measures be lifted in order to allow him to recover from the open heart surgery he underwent on 12 April.

He is being held at the prison hospital in Scheveningen.
