Holiday Bank takes off

14th March 2011, Comments 0 comments

As of Saturday, Dutch minimum wage-earners who have not been on a holiday in a number of years, can register with the Vakantiebank Holiday Bank; an initiative of a local camping goods store and a number of travel organisations.

Applicants have to meet a number of strict conditions. The person in question must lack the financial resources to go on holiday in the next few years. Poverty is often the reason people never go on holiday, but but health problems can also be sufficient reason for the Vakantiebank to look for a suitable holiday.

Holidays offered by the Vakantiebank can vary from a weekend to a longer holiday, either in the Netherlands or abroad. The offer cannot be passed on to another person or exchanged for cash.
