GERMANY - Argentina defeated The Netherlands 2-0 and probably with Germany secured berths in the field hockey final of the women's Champions Trophy on Thursday.

Germany beat China 2-0 in the only other game of the six-team tournament.

Argentina and Germany each have nine points. The defending champion Dutch, the only other title contender, has six.

The leaders meet in the last round-robin on Saturday and a draw would advance both to Sunday's final. The Netherlands need to beat Australia.

Argentina defeated the world's No. 1-ranked team thanks to two first-half strikes by Carla Rebecchi in the 11th minute and Luciana Aymar four minutes later.

The Dutch played better in the second half but Argentina's defence was too good.

Following a 1-0 defeat to Japan on Wednesday, the Dutch have failed to score in two matches at a Champions Trophy for the first time in five years.
