Hirsch Ballin backs criminal finances bill
Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin says he is in favour of a bill put forward by the Christian Democrat party last week which would make it possible to keep an eye on the finances of serious convicts after they have served their sentences.
THE HAGUE—The minister plans to include the proposals in another bill aimed at making it easier to confiscate illegal earnings from criminals.
The Christian Democrats want to keep track of the finances of serious offenders for at least five years after their release from prison. They also want to make it possible to confiscate their passports if it is suspected they are attempting to take illegal earnings out of the country.
