Hillen wants compulsory social service
Dutch Defence Minister Hans Hillen wants to introduce a compulsory social service for young people.
In an interview with television channel RTL7 he said the introduction of such a service should be given serious consideration.
Young people would have to perform one year of compulsory service in – for instance - the armed forces, health care or the environmental sector.
The point would be to “ Teach young people to invest for one year into a society which is to become theirs as well,” Mr Hillen said.
