The Dutch Public Prosecutor's office has halted all proceedings to prohibit and dissolve chapters of the Hells Angels.

The Netherlands - The Dutch Public Prosecutor's office has halted all proceedings to prohibit and dissolve chapters of the Hells Angels. This decision was taken following a verdict made by the Supreme Court of the Netherlands yesterday.

It confirmed the verdict of the Leeuwarden courts which ruled that the Hells Angels chapter in the town of Harlingen may not be dissolved. According to the Supreme Court's verdict, members of the Harlingen chapter are guilty of criminal offences but the motorcycle club is not a criminal organisation.

The Public Prosecutor's office had already postponed four proceedings against other Hells Angels chapters but it has now halted them completely in view of the latest verdict. The legal battle against the Hells Angels has resulted in a series of defeats for the Public Prosecutor.
