AMSTERDAM – Meteorological institute KNMI is warning that severe thunderstorms and rainfall are expected over the Netherlands in the coming hours. The KNMI also predicts heavy wind.

Parts of Noord-Brabant were already hit early on Monday morning by severe weather. Many houses in Halsteren and Sprundel have been flooded. Enormous hailstones have caused a great deal of damage to cars and windows. Heavy lightning was also reported in the Randstad area.

The stormy weather is advancing northward from Belgium, where it caused much damage on Sunday night and early Monday morning.
