AMSTERDAM — A new website has been launched in the Netherlands to allow Christians to propagate their faith via their mobile phones.

Haarlem resident Dave van der Oest has created the Dutch-language website to allow GSM owners to download exclusively Christian ringtones, backgrounds and games. "We don't have any rank images or suggestive melodies," he said on Tuesday.

The website - www.gospelringtone.net — features almost 1,000 Gospel, Christian Rap and other religious melodies to elevate the soul.

"I have long sought out a provider of broad-based and good quality Christian ringtones, but there were none to find. I want to illustrate by Christian lifestyle by the ringtones on my mobile. And I believe I am not the only one," he said.

Like-minded GSM owners will have to pay for the novelty. Each ring tone costs EUR 2.20, while backgrounds with a Christian message cost EUR 1.50 and games cost EUR 3.30.

Van der Oest was also founder of another Christian site, www.bijbeltekst.com.
