ROTTERDAM – The woman who was attacked by gorilla Bokito at the Blijdorp zoo in Rotterdam on Friday is suing the zoo for damages, her lawyer has announced.

The Zoetermeer woman was operated upon for the third time on Tuesday. The lawyer says the amount of the claim will depend on the recovery process she faces.

At a press conference today the Blijdorp zoo announced that the gorillas would be kept indoors for the time being. The zoo does plan to make changes to the gorilla habitat so as to prevent a repeat of last Friday's incident.

In the indoor area the zoo is considering erecting a glass wall that is reflective on one side so that the animals are unable to see the visitors. A glass wall may also be built around the outside habitat. Another option might be a wooden wall with glass viewing panels. The banks of the moat surrounding the gorilla island habitat will be made steeper.
