AMSTERDAM – The Giro d'Italia, Italy's answer to the Tour de France, will start in the Netherlands again in 2010. Former team leader Cees Priem, who is working with the Libéma bureau, has confirmed this.

The bureau has an agreement with the organisers of the Italian cycling tour. At the moment a number of Dutch cities are being considered for the start of the event.

The first four days of the course will be largely in the Netherlands. The Giro d'Italia also started in the Netherlands in 2002, when Groningen provided the backdrop for the prologue.
