Gay Pride week begins in Amsterdam

The 13th Gay Pride week kicks off on Tuesday and will focus especially on religion and culture.

AMSTERDAM - The Amsterdam's 13th Gay Pride week starts on Tuesday.

This year, special attention is being devoted to religion and culture. Museums and theatres will hold Gay Pride events and the Artis Zoo will mount a special project on homosexuality in the animal kingdom.

Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen and Culture Minister Ronald Plasterk will both take part in the traditional Canal Parade. Homosexual members of the Amsterdam police force will also have their own boat for the first time.
