Foundation Massawa has put out a call for children in the Netherlands to run the Mini Dam tot Dammloop to help raise funds for a children's hospital in Eritrea

Foundation Massawa, a non-profit foundation setup to improve the standard of living of the Eritrea people, will take part in this year's Dam tot Damloop to raise money for renovating the First-Aid (emergency unit) of the paediatrics Hospital in Asmara, Eritrea.

The organisation is aiming to have at least 150 enthusiastic participants who would like to support this worthy cause and at the same time enjoy being part of the biggest running event in the Netherlands.

Last year’s run was sold out with 25,000 participants, including elite athletes; Zeresenay Tadese of Eritrea was the winner, clocking 45.52.

Foundation Massawa is focusing on the Mini Dam loop to encourage youngsters to be more active in sports, create health awareness, and at the same time to support their peers in a less fortunate situation.

The 24th edition of the Dam tot Dam loop takes place on Sunday 21 September.
