Former SS man to serve life sentence after all

A medical examination has shown that the Dutch war criminal is fit enough to serve the life sentence that was imposed on him last year.

So far, Boere 89 has been allowed to stay in an old people’s home in the town of Eschweiler. Last year, the court in Aachen convicted Boere of killing three Dutch citizens as a member of the Feldmeijer death squad. The German federal court in Karlsruhe last year rejected the appeal Boere had filed against his conviction.

A spokesperson for the Aachen public prosecutors office says the authorities are looking for a suitable prison. Boere is confined to a wheelchair and needs medical attention. The public prosecutors office expects to be able to incarcerate the former SS-man at the end of the year.

Strange how the Netherlands is so intent on going after foreign war criminals but blind to its own. Ever hear of Captain Raymond "Turk" Westerling?
