Football: Heracles Almelo score first victory

Heracles Almelo have won a surprise 1-4 away victory over FC Groningen, their first in 17 away matches. Thanks to Dusan Tadic, the home side had taken the lead, but when Andreas Granqvist failed to convert a penalty, Heracles seized their chance. Everton and Samuel Armenteros brought the score to 1-2 before half-time, with both scoring again in the second half. For FC Groningen, it was their third defeat in a row.

Not less surprising was Feyenoord's 1-0 win over Heerenveen, who were by far the better team but failed to take advangtage of several chances. Striker Luc Castaignos scored the decisive goal, with goalkeeper Rob van Dijk playing a key role.

Playing home, FC Utrecht drew 1-1 against Roda JC. It is FC Utrecht's sixth draw in a row, though they remain unbeaten. Roda JC took the lead on 30 minutes thranks to a penalty converted by Mads Junker. Ten minutes later replacement Leon de Kogel scored the equaliser. As both squads battle it out for a spot in the Eureopan play-offs, Roda JC are three points ahead of FC Utrecht.
