Football: Feyenoord in free fall

After suffering a shocking 3-0 defeat by NEC, Feyenoord has dropped all the way to 14th spot.

Lasse Schöne scored before half-time, Rick ten Voorde en Bram Nuytinck after. The Rotterdam team had a lucky escape, as NEC failed to cash in on a number of other opportunities. After seven matches Feyenoord now has as many points.

Playing in Rotterdam, Vitesse clinched its first away victory of the season, beating Excelsior 2-0 thanks to goals scored by Dalibor Stevanovic abd Ismaïl Aissati during the second half. After three victories in a row, this was Excelsior's first defeat at home. With ten points, Excelsior remains close to the top, while Vitesse, also with seven points, now has abandoned the Premier League's nether regions.

Playing against NAC, Willem II lost for the 14th time in a row 2-1, earning it the dubious honour of sharing that record with the Volewijckers, the former professional club that achieved the same result in 1962-1963.
