AMSTERDAM – Inflation in November was 1.8 percent, 0.2 percent higher than in October, announced the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Thursday.

The rise is mostly down to the increased cost of food costs, especially vegetables and potatoes, and alcohol-free drinks. They rose on average by 0.7 percent in the last year, their first increase since October 2003 when a supermarket price war broke out, said the CBS.

According to the harmonized European method of calculation, the increase was 1.6 percent, a 0.1 percent increase on October.
