FLEVOLAND - Police in Flevoland are fed up with turning out for nothing because radio and television programme makers decide to play jokes.

Deputy Police Chief Wim Kleinhuis wants to discuss the problem with the broadcasting bosses, to make them realise that they should not saddle the police with unnecessary work.

On Monday, police in Flevoland spent 90 minutes dealing with what they thought was a serious break-in at a swimming pool in a holiday park by three intruders. It turned out to be TMF presenter Sascha Visser who had locked herself inside with a fan.

Kleinhuis wants programme makers to inform the police before they pull off such stunts.

He is also looking into whether it would be possible to reclaim the costs of call-outs for jokes from the broadcasting companies.
