AMSTERDAM - The first group of Dutch people arrived at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport after being stranded in Bangkok for several days.

The group consisted of 10 elderly and sick people who needed to return to the Netherlands urgently. Travel organisations report that at least 600 Dutch citizens are stranded in Bangkok, where two airports were occupied by anti-government protesters.
Some of the 600 Dutch citizens are traveling to Phuket by bus, where they will board a KLM Boeing-747. The plane will arrive in the Netherlands early on Tuesday morning.
More than 100,000 foreign tourists are stranded in Thailand. Those without money are forced to sleep at the airport terminals.
