AMSTERDAM - Members of the fire service took industrial action again on Friday morning, driving their vehicles side-to-side on motorways around the cities of Den Bosch and Leeuwarden to hinder traffic flow.

The protests lasted for an hour and were over by 8.30am. The Leeuwarden fire fighters then returned to their stations, while those in den Bosch gathered in front of the town hall.

The actions were a continuation of protests by fire fighters based in the Randstad cities over the last two days against proposed changes to retirement and pension procedures.
