LUXEMBURG – The Netherlands once again has the lowest unemployment of the 27 EU members, according to figures from European statistical bureau Eurostat for the month of November 2007.
Just 2.9 percent of the Dutch working population is unemployed against their will, according to Eurostat definitions. The EU average is 6.9 percent. The highest unemployment is in Slovakia (11.0 percent), Eurostat announced on Monday.
In October of last year the Netherlands had to make way for Denmark at the top of the list of countries with lowest unemployment. The Netherlands was in the lead in September however.
While unemployment in the Netherlands continues to decline, it has remained stable for the EU as a whole from the previous month.
