Fewer credit transactions for Christmas

21st December 2008, Comments 0 comments

The last Saturday before Christmas has seen fewer credit and debit transactions than the same day last year.

THE NETHERLANDS – The country's largest payment processor, Equens, says it registered around 8.5 million payments compared with more than nine million on the same day last year.

In 2008 the busiest 30 minutes saw 356 transactions per second against 343 this year.

With five more days to go it is still too early to tell if people will be spending less overall for this year's Christmas.
