AMSTERDAM – The father suspected of killing his wife and two young sons in Hengelo on Tuesday was released from hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The man was transferred to a police cell and will appear before the public prosecutor in Zutphen on Friday. The police announced this on Wednesday.

The police found the bodies of a woman and her two sons, aged 9 and 11, in a home in Hengelo on Tuesday. The father was admitted to hospital with unspecified injuries.

An autopsy will be performed on the three bodies today. The police said on Tuesday that the woman and boys had not suffered a particularly violent death, but did not want to confirm or deny whether they had died from ingesting fatal doses of medication.
