ARNHEM – The police in Arnhem arrested a 21-year-old resident last night on suspicion of attacking a family on 13 May.
The man attacked a father, mother and two sons aged 15 and 17 for some unknown reason.
Three of the four family members had to be treated for knife wounds in their arms and hands.
The Arnhem man rang the doorbell of the family's home in the neighbourhood of De Laar on the night in question. The family members themselves say they did not know the man.
He forced his way inside and immediately started attacking the residents with a knife. When the family members managed to get a hold of the knife the man fled.
The police started an extensive investigation. After a number of tips they searched a home earlier this week. On Tuesday evening the police found the man, who had been hiding out in a building in Arnhem-Noord.
The Arnhem man has still not given the motive for his actions. The family have pressed charges of attempted manslaughter.
