AMSTERDAM - FC Twente, from the Dutch city of Enschede, has unexpectedly won itself a place in the third qualifying round in the Champions League, after a goalless draw against Ajax in Amsterdam.

The team had already won its home match against the capital 2-1. FC Twente's goalkeeper Sander Boschker was named man of the match after three spectacular saves.

Ajax will now have to settle for the UEFA cup championships. NEC Nijmegen, who won both home and away against NAC Breda will also compete for the UEFA cup.

ADO The Hague returns to the premier division next season after a year's absence following its win against RKC Waalwijk on Sunday. And on Thursday, De Graafschap from Doetinchem avoided being ousted from the premier division.
