FC Twente Enschede held Fulham to a 1-1 draw in London on Thursday evening. Both goals were made before half time.

A defending blunder by Dwight Tiendalli allowed Andrew Johnson to put the home side in the lead after just 19 minutes. Tiendalli, back in the starting line-up this season, made a rookie mistake by playing a square ball through his own centre. Andrew Johnson latched onto it, cut past Peter Wisgerhof before flicking the ball into the net. Twente striker Luuk de Jong headed in the equaliser from a Roberto Rosales cross just before half-time.

Twente manager Co Adriaanse’s decision to use Rosales as a striker on the right flank, until recently the position of Bryan Ruiz who was sold to Fulham, paid off. It was Rosales’ first appearance in the starting line-up. He made a late start this season as a result of obligations in his native Venezuela.
