THE HAGUE – State secretary Jet Bussemaker (Public Health) wants to set aside an extra EUR 3.5 million for sexual education for the youth via the regional health authorities (GGDs).

A spokesperson for the minister confirmed this after a report on RTL Nieuws on Thursday.

The proposal will be discussed during the cabinet meeting on Friday. The aim is to make it easier for youth to talk and ask questions about sexuality.

The spokesperson says that the measure stems from the policy memo on medical ethics that was recently presented. One of its goals is to reduce the number of abortions and teen pregnancies.
