AMSTERDAM — A community centre in Rotterdam South was evacuated on Wednesday after a staff member carried inside a sports bag containing explosives.

Members of the bomb disposal squad EOC were immediately called in to remove the bag. But police said there was "no acute danger" because there was no detonation device found with the explosives.

An employee saw the bag at about 11.15am in bushes while making his way to the community house. He took the bag inside, but was suspicious of the contents and contacted police. The bag was later confirmed to contain explosives.

Some 25 people were forced to evacuate the building and detectives are investigating who left the bag behind. The type of explosives found in the bag is still to be determined.
