Judges at an international court jailed former Croatian general Ante Gotovina for 24 years Friday after convicting him of war crimes and crimes against humanity but acquitted co-accused Ivan Cermak.

"The conduct of Gotovina amounted to a significant contribution to the joint criminal enterprise," Judge Alphons Orie said at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, reading a summary of the verdict in the trial over the 1995 killing of more than 300 Serbs in Croatia.
