Evangelical Dutchman freed from Iranian jail
A Dutchman accused of doing Christian missionary work in Iran has been freed by authorities. The man spent one year in an Iranian jail.
He holds dual nationality, but the Netherlands was unable to offer any consular help as Iran does not recognise dual citizenship. Dutch diplomats tried to exert pressure on Iranian authorities to give him a fair trial. The man returned to the Netherlands on Friday.
