Eemshaven fire destroys warehouses

31 July 2007, DELFZIJL – A major fire has left three warehouses owned by a company located at the Eemshaven near Delfzijl in ashes. A fourth warehouse was also damaged. The fire brigade managed to get the fire under control by about 8.30 am today.

DELFZIJL – A major fire has left three warehouses owned by a company located at the Eemshaven near Delfzijl in ashes. A fourth warehouse was also damaged. The fire brigade managed to get the fire under control by about 8.30 am today.

The warehouses were used to store recycled household waste. The fire caused a great deal of smoke, a spokesperson from the Groningen emergency services said on Tuesday.

The spokesperson said there were no injuries. The business is located in a non-residential area. No toxic fumes were released by the fire.
