BRUSSELS – The Netherlands can count on the solidarity and support of the European government leaders if Geert Wilders' anti-Koran film leads to violence against Dutch nationals in Islamic countries. Prime Minister Balkenende said this at the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.

Balkenende talked to his European colleagues about Wilders' film and the worrying signals he has received from abroad.

Balkenende said his colleagues are well aware of the possible effects of the film and that everyone shares his concern. France, Denmark and several other countries have already expressed public support for the Netherlands.
