Dutchman killed in carnival accident

21 February 2007, A 20-year-old man from the Dutch province of Limburg died during the carnival in Fourons at about 6 pm on Tuesday. The young man fell from one of the vehicles in the procession before finding himself under the wheels of another.

A 20-year-old man from the Dutch province of Limburg died during the carnival in Fourons at about 6 pm on Tuesday. The young man fell from one of the vehicles in the procession before finding himself under the wheels of another.

The victim was taking part in the celebration with 20 of his friends. They were on the way back when the accident occurred.

Dutch policemen were sent to the site to take care of the friends of the victim. Psychological counselling was made available in a cafe across the border in the Dutch town of Eijsden. The mayor of Fourons, Huub Broers, was present alongside his Dutch counterpart.
