Dutchman charged with murdering Jo Yeates
Dutch citizen Vincent Tabak has been charged with murdering his neighbour Joanna Yeates in the southwestern UK city of Bristol in December. The 32-year-old Dutchman will appear at Bristol' Magistrates Court on Monday.
British media have reported extensively on the case since Jo Yeates frozen body was discovered on Christmas Day. She was found next to a country road in Failand, three miles from where she lived. At that time the landscape architect, who was strangled, had been missing for eight days. Traces of DNA were found on her clothing and torso, but it is not known if they match the suspect's DNA.
After Vincent Tabak was arrested on Thursday, UK journalists travelled to the Netherlands to investigate his past. Mr Tabak is an architect from near Eindhoven, who has been living and working in the UK for three years.
Last week, the BBC television programme Crimewatch broadcast a reconstruction of her final hours. Her parents made a public appeal for anybody who had any information about what had happened to their daughter to come forward.
Earlier, Bristol police arrested Jo Yeates' landlord, but he was released after a few days.
