The Australian authorities have announced that there is a Dutchman among four suspects arrested on charges of smuggling 239 kilos of 'crystal meth', the drug officially known as methamphetamine.

'Meth' is a stimulant which is relatively easy to produce in a simple laboratory. The other suspects were two Australians and a Belgian.

The drug bust, the greatest ever in Australian history, came after an investigation which lasted two months. The drugs had an estimated street value of 36 million euros.

Crystal meth, or 'ice' as it’s commonly known in Australia, is a popular drug in Southeast Asia. It is highly addictive and its effects are reportedly stronger than those of heroin.
