One in three Dutch wants to keep working till 65.

THE NETHERLANDS - One in three Dutch employees now wants to keep working until the age of 65.

Three years ago, according to the National Survey of Work Circumstances, the ratio was one in five.

Although the readiness to work longer has changed in all age ranges, the results vary from sector to sector.

For example, the building trade shows the least enthusiasm: just one quarter of those surveyed want to continue working until they are 65. But more than 40 percent of those involved in agriculture and fisheries say they want to go on working.

Piet Hein Donner, the Minister for Social Affairs, has forwarded the details of the survey to the Lower House. He says that the results prove that the discussion over working longer has had a definite effect on people in the Netherlands.

The cabinet wants older employees to continue working due to the growing greying population.
