Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen said there could be another Dutch mission to the Afghan province of Uruzgan after the current one ends in 2010.

THE HAGUE - In an interview with the Sunday edition of De Telegraaf, however, the minister stressed that no final decision had yet been made.

Last month, Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende hinted that an extended Dutch presence in Afghanistan remains a possibility.

Appearing on the TV discussion programme Pauw & Witteman, Mr Balkenende said the matter would come up for further consideration should US president-elect Barack Obama ask for such an extension.
