Dutch trainer leaves Galatasaray
Turkish football team Galatasaray has announced that Dutch trainer Frank Rijkaard is leaving the club. On Sunday, Galatasaray lost for the second time on the run and fans were screaming for Rijkaard to be sacked.
The team has had a very disappointing season so far and are in ninth place in the Turkey’s Super League with just 12 points after eight games. In August, the squad failed to make it to the group round of the Europa League.
Rijkaard was the Dutch national coach in 2000 and managed to lead the squad to the semi-final of the European Cup. However, as trainer of the Dutch club Sparta, he saw the team relegated from the Premier League for the first time in its history. More recently, he was trainer of Barcelona when they won titles including the Champions League.
