THE HAGUE – The Dutch are spending more and more time in traffic. Time wasted in traffic jams has increased by 53 percent over the past 10 years. If the government had not taken any measures, that figure would have increased by 90 percent.

The new Knowledge Institute for Mobility Policy concluded this on Wednesday in its first Mobility Plan. The Dutch have started leaving earlier from home over the past 10 years in order to avoid the traffic. They have also taken the train more often when travelling to major cities.
