The Dutch relay teams have won two gold medals in the European Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

The Dutch Women's Team have won for the first time at the championships in Heereveen. Annita van Doorn, Jorien ter Mors and the sisters Yara and Sanne van Kerkhof triumphed in the Thialf Stadium over Hungary, Italy and Germany.

Since the introduction of the European Championships in 1997, the women's team had only won silver twice and bronze five times.

After the women took the European title, the men in national coach Jeroen Otter's team also won gold.

In the finals, the men's team, consisting of Niels Kerstholt, Sjinkie Knegt, Daan Breeuwsma and Freek van der Wart, beat the teams from Russia, Great Britain and Germany.

Sjinkie Knegt also took bronze in the overall men's competition.
