Dutch safe and well in Japan
The Dutch foreign ministry had confirmed that all Dutch nationals who were feared to be in the quake-stricken area of Japan have been accounted for.
On Monday, the ministry announced that there were still three Dutch nationals missing, but it was not known then whether they in the affected area when the earthquake and tsunami struck.
Around 1,000 Dutch citizens are thought to be in all of Japan but contact with the disaster region is still very difficult. In many areas, telephone lines and mobile networks are not working.
Over the past few days, a crisis centre set up at the foreign ministry has been receiving some hundreds of telephone calls. The contact number at the crisis centre is +31-70-34 87 770. People with internet access can also use Google's Japan Person Finder.
