THE NETHERLANDS - The public transport users' association Rover has fired its spokesman, Riekus Spithorst.
Writing in a column on the website Fok.nl, he said the house of Green Left party leader Femke Halsema should be set on fire.
Rover says it does not want to be associated with remarks of this sort. Spithorst writes the column under a pseudonym and says the comments were intended as a satirical criticism of Halsema for describing former Green Left MP Wijnand Duyvendak as "honourable".
Duyvendak resigned last week after criticism concerning his radical activist past.
