Dutch right-wing extremist threat on the wane
An official report says the threat against the Dutch state from right-wing extremists is small and becoming smaller.
The AIVD intelligence agency says the strike power of right-wing groups is hampered by the fragmentary nature of the organisations. They also enjoy very limited public support and their members hold disparate points of view.
AIVD research shows the number of active supporters of right-wing extremism has been on the decrease for some time. It was estimated that around 600 right-wing extremists were active in the Netherlands three years ago. Now, there are thought to be fewer than 300. This is thanks to disagreements within some groups and the disbanding of others.
