AMERSFOORT - Residents of the Vathorst neighbourhood in the town of Amersfoort are going to court in an attempt to get an independent investigation into the ventilation in their homes.

Their newly-built houses use the so-called "balance" ventilation system. An edition of the TV programme Zembla has revealed that around 1,000 Vathorst residents have suffered health problems as a result of defects in the ventilation.

Since the contractors who built the houses refuse to answer invitations to talk with the residents, they have turned to the courts. They want an independent expert to be appointed to examine the ventilation system.
