THE NETHERLANDS - In 2010, rail logistics company Prorail plans to increase the number of trains running between the Dutch cities of Amsterdam, Utrecht and Eindhoven.

The idea is to abandon the regular timetable and create a system where people can hop on a train every ten minutes, similar to the subway.

From 2012, ProRail intends to use the same system for the Amsterdam-Haarlem-Rotterdam line and Schiphol-Almere-Lelystad line.

The Dutch train operating company NS says it is very pleased with ProRails's plans.
