Dutch police have arrested two men and confiscated 250,000 ecstasy pills in Kerkrade near the German border in the south of the Netherlands. The arrests were made during a drugs transaction at a garden centre car park.

A 45-year-old German and a 42-year-old Dutchman are being held. It is thought the Dutch suspect was the supplier of the drugs.

The Dutch operation was the result of a tip-off by German police. A third person has been arrested in Germany in connection with the case. The two men arrested by the Dutch police will be handed over to the German authorities.
