Dutch police find weapons cache in suburban home
Dutch police discovered an arsenal of 300 weapons including rocket launchers and automatic rifles during a raid on a suburban home, a spokesman said on Friday.
"We found nearly 300 firearms, a veritable arsenal," said police spokesman Jack van Kleef of the raid on Thursday in the town of Kerkrade, which borders Germany.
"There were modern firearms such as assault rifles, a rocket launcher, automatic weapons, as well as older weapons like pistols from the early 20th century," said the spokesman.
"They were all in working order," he said.
Police also discovered knives, axes, drugs and several thousand euros in forged banknotes, he said.
Police arrested the inhabitants of the house. A 39-year-old man and 38-year-old woman would be held for at least 10 more days, and their 14-year-old daughter was released, the spokesman said.
It was not known why the weapons were in the house or where they had come from.
