Dutch police arrested Sunday a Somali-born British man on suspicion of terrorism as he transited through Amsterdam's Schiphol airport en route from England to Uganda, prosecutors said.

"A British man of Somali origin has been arrested at Schiphol," said a source in the prosecutor's office.

"At this moment, an inquiry is trying to determine whether or not the man belongs to a foreign terrorist organisation."

The suspect had travelled from John Lennon Airport in Liverpool, northeast England, and was on route to Entebbe, said the source.
