LEIDEN - Police in Leiden have arrested a man who robbed a petrol station thanks to a video clip on YouTube.

Images from the station's security cameras were placed on a YouTube channel run by the Central Holland police force site and were seen by about 40,000 people.
Tips provided by the viewers led the police to the suspected offender, a 27-year-old man from Leiden.

The Central Holland force opened its own channel, called Gesnapt! (Gotcha!), on YouTube in July.

The channel shows film clips of crimes recorded on closed circuit cameras. The police hope it will increase their chances of arresting burglars and people who have committed assaults.
